The civil ceremony took place in a hall of brick and wooden beams, with cross-back chairs on either side of an aisle runner of natural fabric, pots of white flowers and candles in glass cylinders. At the far end, an arch of sand-coloured drapes and foliage frames a wooden table, while climbing greenery, glass globe lights and woven-branch pendant lamps hang from the ceiling.

The drinks reception opened onto the garden, beneath pale fabric and fairy lights. The couple’s table stood before an arch of foliage, among dozens of candles; on the round tables, trees of white flowers, gold-rimmed plates and pale wooden chairs, and across the dance floor, watercolour leaves.
