African Women’s Day

The hall took on the colour of the earth. Large clay vases fill with gerberas, roses and wild foliage, and the tall tables are dressed in white, cinched with brown geometric-print bows, small arrangements and softly glowing candles.

On stage, sofas and armchairs in pale fabric, patterned cushions and woven rugs surround a live-edge wooden coffee table, beneath the orange of the screen. Further back, rows of cane-backed chairs, a pleated-skirt buffet among palms and rustic wooden risers, and wicker baskets on the same brown print.
